Key points:
– Employers are increasingly optimistic about the economic outlook as pandemic restrictions have eased. In the three months to May, their confidence surged by a notable 21 percentage points to net: +11. This is the first time employer confidence in the economy has been positive since June 2018, and the highest level recorded since July 2016.
– Employers’ confidence in making hiring and investment decisions remained buoyant and at net: +29 was at the highest level since March 2016.
