Hales Proudly Supports Jamie Mitchell’s London Marathon Fundraising for Sense

Hales Jobs is proud to support Jamie Mitchell as he takes on the London Marathon on Sunday, 27th April 2025, to raise funds for Sense.

Kloe Mitchell, Hales Jobs Managing Consultant – Learning and Development commented: “Hales Group are very kindly supporting my husband, Jamie, in fundraising for the London Marathon 2025. I am so very proud of his hard work and efforts in training for the big day and I am sure his determination will carry him over the finish line!  I look forward to hosting a group themed quiz on 28th February, testing the knowledge of our teams and raising funds for such a great cause, SENSE.”

Sense is a charity that has been supporting people with complex disabilities for over 70 years. They help individuals of all ages in their homes, centres, and communities, fostering connections and bringing joy to their lives.

Sense empowers children to develop new ways to communicate and play, supports young people and adults in building skills and confidence for work and life, and ensures families feel seen, supported, and valued. To find out more about Sense and the important work they do, visit: www.sense.org.uk/

When asked why he wanted to take part in the London Marathon, Jamie commented: “Running the London Marathon has always been a dream of mine, and I never thought I’d get the chance due to its popularity. While watching the London Marathon on TV this year, my son asked me, ‘Daddy, can you run it?’ Without hesitation, I said yes.”

He added: “Initially, I didn’t get a place as 840,000 applied for only 17,000 spots. However, I learned about running for charity and reached out to Sense. After weeks of discussions, they offered me a rare spot to run the marathon on behalf of their charity!”

We wish Jamie the best of luck with his training and commend him for taking on this incredible challenge. To find out more about Jamie’s London Marathon journey or to donate, click here.

Hales Jobs Managing Director Kirsty Walpole is running the Eastbourne Half Marathon in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice

Kirsty Walpole, Managing Director at Hales Jobs, is set to take on the Eastbourne Half Marathon on Sunday, 23 February 2025, to raise vital funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in honour of her nanny, Edna Lee.

St Wilfrid’s Hospice is a charity that offers specialist palliative and end-of-life care. The services are designed to help people living with terminal or life-limiting illnesses, supporting them and their families both in the hospice and in the community. The charity’s mission is to ensure that no one dies alone, afraid, or in pain, while encouraging open conversations about death.

When asked about why she chose to raise funds for this charity, Kirsty commented: “My nanny, Edna, was an inspirational matriarch of the family, not only did she devote her working career to helping others through nursing, but she also fundraised and volunteered for St Wilfrid’s for over a decade!”

Kirsty added: “In June 2022, Nanny was offered end of life care at St Wilfred’s but wanted to see her last days out at home. The support our family received from the Hospice Helpline and the Community Nursing Service was invaluable and I am proud to be able to support them in their fundraising efforts as well as running in memory of the fabulous woman herself, Edna Lee.”

We wish Kirsty all the best as she takes on another half-marathon in support of such a meaningful cause. We applaud her for her hard work and dedication to raising funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice. Charlotte Romer, Managing Consultant of the Bury St Edmunds branch, celebrated 20 years working with Hales Group.

To celebrate this significant milestone, the Consultants in the Bury St Edmunds branch of Hales Group Recruitment organised a surprise charity fundraising event in May for a cause close to Charlotte’s heart – Psoriasis Association.

During the month of May, they embarked on the challenge to walk a total of 2 million steps to raise money for Psoriasis Association, a charity that offers support to people affected by psoriasis in the UK. To find out more about Psoriasis Association, click here.

Alongside the steps challenge, the branch also organised a raffle to raise money, with prizes generously donated by Travis Perkins (a Makita UK Drill worth £300) and Paus (a £40 voucher to use at their spa).

By the end of May, the Bury branch surpassed their goal, walking an amazing total of 2,143,063 steps and raising a staggering £611.00.

When asked about what their fundraising efforts meant to her, Charlotte stated “I cannot thank my team enough for their dedication and commitment backing this amazing cause! Organising the 2 million step challenge, raffle, and prizes, on top of all of the late nights and early mornings getting their steps in, they have all been dedicated to the cause! And most importantly working as a true TEAM to hit our milestone!”

“Supporting a charity that means so much to me and affects so many people on a daily basis, however, isn’t very well known or discussed, has been amazing.”

When asked about how they thought their month went, the Bury St Edmunds team (Alice Crowther, Chloe Bailey, Keeley Bird, and Zarah Karlsson) commented “We are over the moon with how the month went! Our target was to achieve 2 million steps as a team throughout the month of May, and some days were certainly tougher than others! We can proudly say we achieved 2,143,063 steps! We took the opportunity to spread awareness of Psoriasis and get people talking which was something we really wanted to achieve.”

“We hope that the initiative that we’ve started helps people gain a better understanding and help fund the important research they do as a charity.”

Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to find a new job? Now is the perfect time to start looking for that new job you wanted!

Why is it important to start your job search now?

Finding a new job in 2024 may be on many people’s New Year’s resolutions list. Stay proactive by applying for positions ahead of the competition. As those filling the temp roles move on to different employment, opportunities may arise for you to apply, presenting a great chance to explore new job possibilities.

What is a CV

A CV, or Curriculum Vitae, is the first chance that an individual has to outline their qualifications. It includes information about work history, education, and skills learned, along with any achievements or awards made at the time of education. That is how you would be introducing yourself to potential employers and showing them why you are the person to take for the job. If done well, it could secure you a job interview.

How to write a good CV

Employers get lots of CVs to look at and have to decide quickly who they’re going to interview. When you write your CV, remember to:

Additional CV tips

Your CV should be relevant to the position you are applying to. Reduce any information that does not directly apply to the position you are applying to.

Write about any employment gaps. If you were unemployed for a while, document it and highlight what you learnt during this time.

Use keywords but avoid cliché words or phrases. These words will be used on the majority of CVs employers see and you won’t stand out from the others.

A well thought out cover letter can grab the employer’s attention and increase your chances of being considered for an interview.
