Supply Chain Manager

Great Yarmouth

Full Time – Permanent

The Supply Chain Manager will manage the procurement, inventory (stock) and facilities functions across the Great Yarmouth sites, assuming direct responsibility for the procurement, inventory and facilities team. To develop and implement a sourcing strategy, focused on strategic initiatives both internally and externally. The identification of supply chain risk, supplier management and improvement with the objective of ensuring a robust and reliable supply chain to support the business needs, whilst maximising internal efficiency in terms of processing and management. This role shall ensure that the business has robust inventory controls in place, that are demonstrated through a transparent cycle count rhythm and oversee a responsive transactional service. With a further requirement to drive initiatives within the business to optimise the site inventory balance.


Day to day management of personnel responsible for the tactical execution of purchasing and inventory (stock) activities plus facilities management.

People development and driving the growth of skills and knowledge within the supply chain team.

Communicate effectively & clearly with other functions in the business to drive positive changes and

improvements within the business.

Supporting the Group Supply Chain Manager in meeting the group supply chain KPI’s and initiatives.


Ensure that all requests for purchase are actioned within a timely manner and that the department delivers the required quality of service to internal customers at all times.

To be hands-on as required to negotiate and place Purchase Orders, ensuring schedule reporting and delivery promises are maintained by vendors with information communicated to the requestor any other stakeholders.

Responsible for monitoring all spend on assigned projects and supporting procurement team where required.

Implementation of localised sourcing strategies to maximise cost savings and reduce lead times.

Directly facilitate, support or lead internal department/supplier meetings for analysis/research for future work scopes.

Attend commercial bid/project handover or kick off meetings to ensure that requirements are identified at the earliest opportunity and where applicable customer terms and conditions can be mirrored with suppliers.

Establish, build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to mitigate risk, deliver high quality goods and services, to the required timeline at the best price.

Alongside the Group Supply Chain Manager, consolidate and leverage direct and indirect spend where beneficial. Negotiate and manage Master Service Agreements (MSA’s) with key suppliers, in order to provide commercial benefit to the business.

Managing supplier performance to ensure output is in line with SLA’s and KPI’s.

Liaise with the Group Supply Chain Manager and QHSE department to ensure supplier audit schedules and NCR’s are adequate, actioned and resolved in a timely manner.

Participate in audits for the Supply Chain function and support any resulting actions.


Ensure that inventory transactions, records and activities are completed accurately, in a timely manner and in accordance with Claxton’s procedures.

Assess the need for, and subsequent implementation of proactive inventory management principles such as cycle counts, metrics, aging stock reports and min/max stock levels.

Facilities Management

Responsible for execution of management /coordination of ad-hoc and planned site repairs and maintenance across the GY facilities to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

Liaise with the QHSE department and 3rd party contractors as required to ensure all safety requirements are adhered to.

Managing the annual budget plan for facility repairs and maintenance

Experience and Skills required:

Educational attainment – CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchase and Supply) qualified or similar qualification Degree level qualification.

Proven solid experience of Supply Chain, Inventory and Procurement, both tactical and strategic.

Supply agreements, negotiation and implementation.

Management experience of leading a team, coaching, goal setting and performance management.

ERP systems – Navision and Armada preferable.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.

Skilled negotiator.

Good Microsoft skills, inc, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Commercial awareness.

Excellent decision-making skills.

Proven team leadership and team development skills
